The Complaint and Disciplinary Process is intended to ensure that formal complaints made against an Equity member are addressed in a consistent manner that is accessible and fair to all of those involved. The goal of this protocol is resolution of the complaint and the preservation of professional working relationships.
Detailed information about the formal process can be found in Equity's Constitution and Bylaws.
Any person or the Association, may file a complaint against any member of the Association for:
- Any form of discrimination including, including, but not limited to, acts of ableism, ageism, or sexism, and racial or cultural discrimination
- Harassment, including bullying or sexual harassment
- Interference with, or failure to adhere to, the conditions resulting from a disciplinary process
- Abuse of position of power, or perceived position of power
- Reprisal or threat of reprisal
- Acts of violence
A formal complaint can also be brought against a member for:
- Being in conflict of interest to the detriment of another member
- Unprofessional conduct
One of Equity’s specially trained Respectful Workspace Advisors (RWA) can discuss your situation if you wish to file a formal complaint against an Equity member through the Complaints and Disciplinary Process.
Administrative Complaints
Administrative complaints may also be brought against a member for:.
- Failing to pay monies owing to Equity
- Refusing to fulfill a contract (without reasonable cause)
- Violating a contractual agreement
- Working without an appropriate Equity contract
These complaints are generally are referred to the Executive Director for action.
